Ben Petro – President and Chief Executive Officer
Ben Petro joined Teneros from NeuStar, Inc., where he was appointed SVP for Ultra Services, following NeuStar's acquisition of UltraDNS Corporation in April 2006. Ben Petro had been President and CEO of UltraDNS since 2001. He is a proven leader who has earned his outstanding reputation by repeatedly creating sustained value in a number of high-growth businesses. He grew UltraDNS into a profitable, high-growth company that provided infrastructure solutions to over 20% of the Internet and thousands of global enterprises. Prior to joining UltraDNS, Ben Petro was Vice President of Marketing at Edge Connections, where he was responsible for creating and implementing its national brand and deploying a strategy for its service offering. He was responsible for forging key strategic alliances necessary for the company's subsequent long-term growth. As Director of Marketing for Logix Communications, Ben Petro successfully launched the Company's CLEC/broadband services in over 20 markets. He also held highly successful leadership positions in marketing and strategy at MCI Communications and communications consulting firm QSI.
Nick Sturiale – Managing Director, The Carlyle Group
Nick Sturiale is a Managing Director of Carlyle Group, based in San Francisco, focused on U.S. venture and growth capital investments. Mr. Sturiale joined Carlyle after seven years as General Partner with Sevin Rosen Funds. Prior to Sevin Rosen Funds, Mr. Sturiale spent 12 years in executive operating roles in technical marketing, business development, and sales for early-stage venture-backed start ups. These early stage companies were in the application software, flat panel display, and semiconductor industry sectors. While at business school, Nick Sturiale was founding CEO and director of Timbre Technologies, a SRF-backed metrology software company he incubated at the firm which was later acquired by Tokyo Electron Limited (TSE) for $138MM. He also led the firm's investment in Xensource which was acquired in 2007 by Citrix (CTXS) for $500M. He currently serves on the boards of SRF companies Teneros, Solidcore, Splunk, Sonopia and YouSendIt. Mr. Sturiale holds a B.S. from California State University, Chico and an M.B.A. from University of California, Berkeley where he a frequent guest lecturer.
Scott D. Sandell – General Partner, New Enterprise Associates
Scott D. Sandell joined NEA in 1996 as an associate, became a partner in 1999 and a general partner in 2000. Scott D. Sandell focuses on investments in information technology, including software, semiconductors and systems. Present board memberships include Actional, Agami Systems, CenterBeam, Data Domain, Ensim, FineGround Networks, Foveon, Teneros and Spreadtrum Communications. He is also actively involved with BCD Semiconductor Manufacturing Limited, Decru, Motion Computing and Salesforce.com. Scott D. Sandell serves as co-chairman of the board of the Software Development Forum. He was previously on the board of 3ware (acquired by Applied Micro Circuits Corporation), Amplitude Software (acquired by Critical Path), Neoteris (acquired by Juniper Networks, (NASDAQ: JNPR), NetIQ (NASDAQ: NTIQ) and WebEx (NASDAQ: WEBX). Scott D. Sandell started his career at the Boston Consulting Group and later joined C-ATS Software as the company's first salesman. He founded and ran the European Subsidiary before attending Stanford Business School. During and after business school, Scott D. Sandell was a product manager at Microsoft, where he worked on Windows 95. In addition to an MBA from Stanford, Scott D. Sandell holds an AB in Engineering Sciences from Dartmouth College.
Peter Perrone – Vice President, Goldman Sachs
Peter Perrone joined Goldman Sachs in 1999 in Silicon Valley. He focuses on technology infrastructure, including the computing, communications, storage, and semiconductor sectors. Pete currently serves on the Board of Directors at Limelight Networks, Teneros, Tervela and Woven Systems. He also led Goldman Sachs investments in and works closely with Acopia Networks, Datasynapse and Kazeon. Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, Perrone held positions in engineering and finance with Westinghouse Electric and Applied Synergistics, a startup servicing the power industry. He holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from Duke University, a MS in Electrical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and an MBA from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Jeanne Bayless – Managing Partner, STAR Ventures
Ms. Bayless joined STAR Ventures in 2002 as Managing Partner of the U.S. office. Before joining STAR, she served as Director of Strategic Investments for Intel Capital. Prior to her tenure at Intel Capital, Ms. Bayless was the Founder, CEO and President of AnswerSoft, a startup that developed software for the automation of inbound call center operations. AnswerSoft was acquired by Davox Corporation in 1998, and she then joined Davox as VP of Marketing. Preceding Davox, Ms. Bayless was VP of Marketing at NetBoost Corporation, a startup that developed solutions for the acceleration of network applications. NetBoost was acquired by Intel Corporation in 1999. Ms. Bayless is currently an active Board member of the following companies: AppTrigger, CedarPoint Communications, Kabira Technologies, OraMetrix, Sipera Systems, Teneros and UltraCell Corporation. Former Board positions include Broadbus (acquired by Motorola) and GrooveMobile (acquired by LiveWire). She also holds Board observer roles at Mintera Corporation, Medical Present Value, SensorLogic, Waterfront Media, Xtera Communications, and Wavesplitter Technologies. She serves on the Board of the Metroplex Technology Business Council, as well as the Advisory Boards of the Entrepreneurs’ Foundation of North Texas and the University of Texas at Dallas School of Management. Ms. Bayless holds an M.S. in Management from The University of Texas at Dallas and a B.S. in Computer Science from Texas A&M University.
James Phillips – Entrepreneur-in-Residence, Mayfield Fund
James Phillips has spent over twenty years in a wide range of operating roles in the software industry. Currently with Mayfield Fund, James was previously Co-founder and CEO of Akimbi Systems, acquired by VMware for $60 million in 2006 after two years of operations with $11 million invested. Prior to Akimbi, James was Sr. Vice President of Marketing and Products at Actional Corporation and Vice President of Product Marketing and Business Development with Ensim Corporation. Earlier in his career James held software engineering and marketing leadership roles with Intel, Synopsys and Central Point Software. James holds a BS in Mathematics and earned his MBA, with honors, from the University of Chicago.
