Teneros’ Application Continuity Appliance Protects Workman|Nydegger Email Data
Law Firm Workman|Nydegger’s Director of IT Praises Teneros Product
GRAPEVINE, Texas (International Legal Technology Association Conference, Booth #623) -- August 25, 2008 — Teneros (www.teneros.com) today announced at the International Legal Technology Association (ILTA) conference that the law firm Workman|Nydegger (http://www.wnlaw.com/), a major IP firm located in Salt Lake City, recently confirmed their continuing satisfaction with the Teneros Application Continuity Appliance, which the firm has been using since May 2007. Workman|Nydegger’s director of IT recently praised Teneros for its role in quickly helping to restore email communications between the firm’s lawyers, their clients and the courts following a power outage. The power outage was due to local construction work and caused data corruption to the firm’s Exchange server.
Workman|Nydegger is a top intellectual property (IP) firm specializing in prosecution and litigation. The firm was recently ranked 36th in the annual IP200 list of the top U.S. IP Firms and as one of the top trademark firms in the country by Intellectual Property Today.
According to Carl Peterson, director of IT for Workman|Nydegger, the Teneros Application Continuity Appliance worked exceptionally well in protecting the firm’s 80 attorneys and 204 mail boxes from experiencing approximately 24 hours of email communications downtime after an underground explosion at a nearby construction project. When power was restored, the firm’s Microsoft Exchange server was inoperable due to corruption in the email database from the unexpected power outage.
Because Teneros Application Continuity Appliances maintain a complete, high integrity copy of the email database of the protected Exchange server, Peterson simply had to push the instant failover switch on the Teneros appliance and email communications continued for the firm. The Teneros appliance gave Peterson and his team time to repair the downed Exchange Server without interrupting email operation for the firm’s lawyers. Peterson estimates that the email outages could have potentially cost Workman|Nydegger tens of thousands of dollars per hour.
Teneros Application Continuity Appliances end email downtime for businesses by delivering local high availability and remote disaster recovery of Microsoft Exchange. Teneros appliances provide around-the-clock email uptime for businesses running Microsoft Exchange by utilizing Teneros’ Instant-On™ failover technology. The Teneros appliances install in minutes. The appliances are remotely monitored, maintained and updated from Teneros’ Network Operations Center (NOC), and the appliances use transactional integrity validation—Teneros’ proprietary, real-time data verification technology—to prevent replication of Exchange data corruption onto the Teneros appliances.
Workman|Nydegger places a high value on constant attorney-client communication and they purchased the Teneros Application Continuity Appliance to assure that important email communications between the firm’s attorneys, clients, the courts and the U.S. Patent Office are not disrupted.
“The Teneros Application Continuity Appliance did exactly what it was supposed to,” Peterson said. “Teneros has a great reputation in the legal community, which is one of the reasons we went to them initially. We feel this was a good investment for the firm.”
