Maxim Group Adds Teneros High Availability Solution on HP ProLiant Server


MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. — September 30, 2008 — Teneros (www.teneros.com) announced today that Maxim Group has installed a second award-winning, Teneros high availability appliance, this one running on the HP ProLiant server. The new Teneros high availability solution protects a Microsoft Exchange server in Maxim Group’s Long Island office.
Since last fall Maxim Group, a Wall Street investment banking, securities, and investment management firm, has been using the Teneros high availability appliance in their Chrysler Building headquarters to support its 325 mailboxes and also uses the Teneros disaster recovery appliance, located offsite. Teneros also supports 100 Blackberry users.

“I’ve been a big fan of Teneros since we first became a customer last fall, and a year later, we have not had any email downtime. So, when it came time to choose a high availability solution for the Exchange server in our Long Island office, it was an easy decision,” said John Michaels, CTO of Maxim Group. “I am pleased with Teneros’ decision to offer an HP ProLiant-based appliance, because HP has an excellent reputation in the IT community. I have tested the new appliance’s performance and it worked flawlessly. What I love most about the Teneros suite of messaging continuity solutions is that they are remotely monitored, updated and maintained by Teneros’ Network Operations Center so there is no support and maintenance burden on my in-house IT team, which is my ultimate goal for any IT solution.”

In July Teneros announced an agreement with Hewlett-Packard to deliver Teneros’ email continuity appliance software bundled on HP ProLiant DL380 G5 servers. Teneros selected the HP ProLiant as the hardware platform for its appliances based on HP’s high standards of quality and performance, its servers’ ease of installation, and the company’s worldwide support services. Teneros also joined the HP Developer and Solution Partner Program (DSPP), which makes Teneros’ email continuity appliances available to approximately 15,000 HP resellers worldwide.

Michaels said he installed the new Teneros high availability solution easily, without technical support, noting that any of his technical staff could have installed the product. Last week, one of his IT team members accidentally triggered an automatic failover to the Teneros appliance while installing a Microsoft update, which stopped a critical service on their primary Exchange server. “I received a text message alert on my phone that the Exchange server had failed over to the Teneros appliance,” said Michaels. “We solved the Exchange outage, and none of the employees in the company knew about the Exchange server failure or experienced any interruption in their email service because the Teneros appliance worked perfectly,” he said.
