Maxim Group Chooses Teneros for 24X7 Email Availability and Disaster Recovery
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. — October 23, 2007 — Teneros today announced that Maxim Group, a Wall Street investment banking, securities, and investment management firm, has chosen Teneros’ Application Continuity Appliances to provide local high availability and remote disaster recovery for its Microsoft® Exchange Servers.
Maxim Group will deploy a Teneros Application Continuity Appliances to ensure 24X7 email uptime for 325 desktop users and 90 Blackberry users supported by a single Exchange server at its headquarters in Midtown Manhattan, N.Y. The company will use another Teneros appliance for disaster recovery at a branch office in Woodbury, Long Island, approximately 25 miles from the Midtown site.
Why Teneros?
John Michaels, CTO of Maxim Group, said he looked at solutions from a variety of vendors before choosing Teneros.
“Until earlier this year we had not experienced extended email downtime. After suffering several outages, I began to look at continuity solutions to prevent future costly outages,” he said. “I checked out Microsoft® clusters, Marathon and Double-Take’s high availability and replication products but found these products to be either expensive, lacking features I needed, or very complex, plus they required more training and IT resources. The Teneros Application Continuity Appliances has everything I need, all in one package. The appliances provide local high availability with instant failover, off-site remote replication, and 24X7 monitoring, maintained by the Teneros Network Operations Center (NOC). This will result in a worry free, always-on email environment, freeing up me and my staff to work on proprietary projects.”
“The financial world relies on constant, reliable communications of which email is a major component,” said Steve Lewis, Teneros CEO. “Outages can be devastating to a firm’s productivity, not to mention its reputation. Our simple, affordable, appliances for high availability and disaster recovery ensure that email is operational 24X7 with no added in-house IT burden.”
All Teneros Application Continuity Appliances for high availability and disaster recovery of Microsoft® Exchange servers offer 99.999-percent uptime utilizing the company’s Instant-On™ failover technology. Teneros appliances require no configuration of, modification to, or additional software on the Exchange server or network infrastructure and can be installed in approximately 20 minutes. The appliances are remotely monitored, maintained and updated from Teneros Network Operations Center, so no additional IT burden is imposed on customers, and the appliances use transactional integrity validation—Teneros’ proprietary, real-time data verification technology—to prevent Exchange data corruption on Teneros appliances. The cost of the appliances is comparable to that of a provisioned Exchange server.
Insurance policy
Maxim Group’s John Michaels said he had not realized how important email had become to the company until it went down. “You can experience various service outages, but take away users’ email and I hear about it immediately, and loudly. Email has become one of our most critical business applications, and Teneros is a great insurance policy to assure email continuity.”
